Westport Connecticut
Westport is a unique suburban Connecticut community of approximately 27,000 people. Individuals and families alike love Westport CT because of our nationally acclaimed public school system and the quality of life that comes with being a homeowner in Westport. We are largely a single-family home community. Some portion of our homes sit on two acres of land, while some are located near the center of town with plenty of walkability to shopping, dining and other amenities. There is also a significant volume of beachfront properties near Compo Beach and Saugatuck Shores, as well as river front properties and historic homes.
Beaches
We have many miles of coastline on Long Island Sound and provide three town beaches; Compo, Burying Hill, and Old Mill. All of Westport’s waterfront properties are open with Lifeguards on duty Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend at Compo and Burying Hill Beaches.
Vehicle parking emblems are required from May 1 though Sept.30 or a daily fee is available. Please go to Compo Beach or Burying Hill for additional information.
We sell 100 Compo Beach parking passes per day at the gate. Parking for visitors will be in the designated daily pass parking area only. Signage will be posted outside the beach when daily passes are sold out. Violators will be fined.
Sherwood Island State Park is on the shore of Long Island Sound in Westport. It is a cooperative effort of the CT Department of Environmental Protection and the Friends of Sherwood Island. Sherwood Island State Park is not owned and operated by the Town of Westport. Please visit their website or call (203) 226-6983 for more information.
